Christopher Newport’s Jahn Hines Earns C2C Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 15th week of the 2024-25 men's basketball season. Christopher Newport senior Jahn Hines captured C2C Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors.


MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jahn Hines, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport senior Jahn Hines had another remarkable week for the 12th-ranked Captains, leading the squad to home victories over Salisbury and Mary Washington. He averaged 22 points and 13.5 rebounds per contest, opening the week with a 14-point, nine-rebound effort versus the Sea Gulls. On senior night Saturday, his number 22 was retired prior to tip off, and he responded with a 22-point performance and added a career-high 18 rebounds against the Eagles. Hines, a three-time All-American, has now scored 1,954 points in his illustrious career, and is just 23 points away from second place on CNU's all-time scoring list.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury's Jordan Oates continuing a dominant 2025 campaign, logged his 18th double-double in one of his most impressive outings of the season. Oates tallied 22 points on a 4-of-6 shooting night from beyond the arc while hauling in 14 rebounds and racking up a career-high six blocks in Salisbury's loss at CNU on Wednesday. His rejection total was the most of any Sea Gull in a single game dating back at least 15 seasons. Oates also moved to eighth in team history in career scoring (1,455) in the matchup… UC Santa Cruz's Joseph Espy continued to be a strong performer for the Banana Slugs, helping lead the team to two victories by turning in back-to-back double doubles with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Academy of Art while recording 21 points with 17 rebounds, and four assists against Simpson.
