Christopher Newport’s Hanna Heaton and UC Santa Cruz’s Eric Anderson Capture C2C Athlete of the Year Honors
The 2024-25 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Year have been selected. The honorees are below:
Female Athlete of the Year: Hanna Heaton, Christopher Newport
Heaton, a junior midfielder from Gloucester, Va., composed an outstanding season while leading CNU women's soccer to a Division III record unbeaten streak that concluded at 84 games (75-0-9) and the NCAA National Semifinals with a 19-2-2 record in 2024. She led the Captains offensively with 45 total points on 14 goals and 17 assists. Heaton shattered the program record for single season assists on the way to claiming first team All-America and C2C Offensive Player of the Year honors. She became just the second player in any sport at CNU to earn first team All-America honors on the field while adding a first team Academic All-America certificate as well.
Male Athlete of the Year: Eric Anderson, UC Santa Cruz
Anderson posted a memorable senior campaign including his fourth All-American honor while guiding the Banana Slugs to three C2C team crowns. The Folsom, Calif., native, was recognized as the C2C Athlete of the Year in both indoor and outdoor track and field. Anderson finished sixth in the 1,500-meters at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He was a double-winner at the C2C Championships with gold in the 800- and 1,500-meters to lead the Banana Slugs to their first outdoor title. Anderson also broke the conference records in the 800m (1:49.42) and 1500m (3:45.02) this season. At the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Anderson placed fourth in the mile after claiming the C2C title in the mile for the third consecutive year with a meet record. He won the 800m as well to score 20 points as the Banana Slugs took the indoor team title for the first time. Additionally, Anderson finished third at the C2C Cross Country Championships as UCSC won its fourth straight league title with a perfect team score of 15 points.
