      <description>The Presidents Council of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) proudly announced the addition of Penn State Harrisburg as a full member of the conference, beginning July 1, 2013.  Penn State Harrisburg is the third institution, along with Christopher Newport University and Southern Virginia University, to join the CAC for the 2013-14 academic year.</description>

      <title>CAC Names A Record 1,109 Student-Athletes To The 2011-12 All-Academic Team</title>

      <description>The Capital Athletic Conference announced that a record of 1,109 student-athletes were named to the 2011-12 All-Academic Team.  It is the second-straight year that more than 1,000 student-athletes, representing nine member institutions and 21 championship sports, were named to the conference&#x2019;s All-Academic Team and the fourth-straight year the total number of honorees increased.  Student-athletes in one or more CAC championship sports that attain a 3.20 grade point average (GPA) for the academic year earn a spot on the All-Academic team.  Nearly 40% of CAC student-athletes posted a 3.20 GPA this year (1,109 out of 2,822 student-athletes, 39.3%).</description>

      <description>The Presidents Council of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) proudly announced Monday the addition of Southern Virginia University as full members of the conference, beginning July 1, 2013.  Southern Virginia, which received notification last week of its approved regional accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), will join the CAC as a full member at the same time as Christopher Newport University, which announced its membership intentions in April.  Southern Virginia also anticipates being promoted by the NCAA Division III Membership Committee from its current exploratory year to Division III Provisional Membership status later this summer.</description>

      <description>The Hood College athletic department welcomed 23 new inductees and six returning honorees into the 2012 class of Chi Alpha Sigma, the nation's first scholar-athlete honor society, in a ceremony at the Coblentz Seminar Room Sunday.&#xD;
A total of eight seniors and 15 juniors comprised the 2012 induction class, representing the fourth Hood College class to earn this prestigious honor. Inductees must maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative grade-point average as a junior or senior and have earned a varsity letter in their sport.</description>

The first year of full competition will be the 2013-14 academic year.  CNU, which competes in 19 of the 21 CAC Championship sports, will be immediately eligible for conference championships and NCAA Tournament opportunities.</description>
