Knight and Salisbury Softball Coaching Staff Three-Peat as NFCA Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year

The Salisbury University softball team coaching staff was named the Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the third year in a row.

The Salisbury staff, led by head coach Margie Knight, along with assistants Sarah AlpaughChelsea BrooksJohn KrahlingNicole McClaskeyHannah MillsTerri SharplessTom Stitcher, and Jess Stoltz, led the team to a 44-5 record in 2014, and a run to the championship series of the 2014 NCAA Championship.

This marks the eighth overall regional coaching staff award for Salisbury.

Salisbury rattled off winning streaks of 15, 17 and 11 games this year, including a 9-0 mark to open the NCAA tournament.

Salisbury hosted a four-team NCAA regional to open play in the NCAA tournament, defeating the other three teams to advance to the NCAA super regional. Salisbury hosted the super regional as well at the SU Softball Field, where the Sea Gulls picked up two wins to qualify for the program's eighth championship weekend appearance. Salisbury won its first four games at the World Series before placing second in the tournament.
