Marymount Senior Katelyn Fischer Named ECAC South First Team All-Star
Marymount University senior women's basketball standout Katelyn Fischer was named First Team ECAC All-South Region, as announced on Thursday. The voting was completed by head coaches within the ECAC Division III South Women's Basketball membership.
Named an All-American by Women's DIII News and the WBCA, Fischer was also awarded the Jostens Trophy which recognizes outstanding student-athletes in NCAA Division III basketball for excellence in the classroom, on the playing court and in the community. She was also named First Team All-Atlantic Region by D3Hoops.com, First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference and the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association All-State Player of the Year for the third consecutive year.
Fischer averaged 15.5 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor, 39.1% from three-point range and 83.2 percent from the free throw line. She led the CAC in assists, was second in free throw shooting, third in three-point shooting and assist to turnover ratio, eighth in scoring and ninth in steals.
For her career, Fischer set the CAC record for career three-pointers made (204) and set Marymount records for career assists, three-pointers (204), three-point shooting (40.1%) and free throw shooting (82.5%). She finished her career in third place overall at MU in scoring (1,664 points) and sixth in steals (263).
Fischer is a two-time CAC Player of the Year and has received numerous All-America accolades during her three years with the Blue and White. In addition to her athletic accolades, Fischer was also named a First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second year in a row this season.
