2022 C2C Baseball Awards & All-Conference Team Announced
The 2022 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Baseball All-Conference honors have been announced. Below are the recipients:
Player of the Year: Kavi Caster - Salisbury
Kavi Caster’s spectacular 2022 already ranks among the greatest offensive campaigns in Sea Gull history. He finished the regular season slashing .446/.580/.831 with 16 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 46 RBIs, 58 runs scored, 25 stolen bases and a 1.411 OPS, leading the C2C in nearly every major offensive category. Caster also boasts the fourth-best on-base percentage (.580) in Division III and ranks top-20 in slugging percentage (.831, 11th), and batting average (18th), plus top-50 rankings in eight other categories.
Pitcher of the Year: Jimmy Adkins - Salisbury
Jimmy Adkins put up video game-like numbers on the way to his third all-conference honor. He made 10 appearances (five starts) in the regular season, going 4-1 with a 0.83 ERA, two complete games, one save, 57 strikeouts and just five walks in 54 innings of work. Adkins' ERA is the second-lowest in Division III and nearly half that of his closest competitor in the C2C; he also owns the nation’s best WHIP (0.67), good for barely six baserunners per nine innings.
Rookie of the Year: Jacob Christenbury - Mary Washington
Mary Washington freshman Jacob Christenbury gains C2C Rookie of the Year after starting 37 games at shortstop for the Eagles this season, batting .277 with six doubles and two triples. The freshman has scored 22 runs and driven in 16, while stealing nine bases.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Sky Rahill - Salisbury
Rahill slashed .336/.446/.473 with 13 extra-base hits, 33 runs and 38 RBIs, tying for second in the C2C in rib-eyes and ranking sixth in batting average. His portfolio off the diamond is as strong as his numbers on it: Rahill carries a 3.61 grade-point average in Conflict Analysis Dispute Resolution (International Studies) and is a proud member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), earning the George C. Marshall Award as Salisbury's top ROTC cadet this spring. Upon graduation Rahill will become an infantry officer in the United States Army.
Coaching Staff of the Year: Salisbury - Troy Brohawn, Head Coach
The C2C Coaching Staff of the Year selection gives head coach Troy Brohawn three conference Coach of the Year awards in his eight-year residency at SU, including two straight. The Sea Gulls went an undefeated 6-0 in conference play this season, outscoring league foes by a 50-10 margin. Salisbury leads Division III in team ERA (2.71), hits allowed per nine innings (7.09) and fielding percentage (.980) and also boasts top-10 rankings in WHIP (1.15, fourth), HBPs (95, sixth), sacrifice bunts (40, seventh) and sacrifice flies (32, 10th). Brohawn has continued Salisbury’s 21-year NCAA Tournament streak by making the field in each of his first seven seasons.
