SU’s Inman, CNU’s Hustead Capture C2C Weekly Baseball Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the third week of the 2025 baseball season. Salisbury's Jackson Inman claimed C2C Player of the Week honors, while the Christopher Newport's Chase Hustead was named C2C Pitcher of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jackson Inman, Salisbury

Salisbury freshman Jackson Inman slashed .526/.571/.895 with two doubles, one triple, one home run, four RBIs, seven runs scored, and a 1.466 OPS during the Sea Gulls' 5-1 week. Inman saved his best for last, going 4-for-5 with a triple, RBI, and two runs scored in Sunday's nightcap against Oswego State.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Chase Hustead, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior Chase Hustead took the mound against Saint Elizabeth on Sunday morning and earned the win after an impressive eight shutout innings. He scattered four hits and faced just two more batters than the minimum through eight innings. Utilizing his defense, he induced three double plays and erased another baserunner with caught stealing. He allowed only one baserunner to reach third base in the game and stranded him there with an inning-ending double play in the sixth inning. Hustead struck out four and recorded 1-2-3 innings in six of his eight innings pitched.

HONORABLE MENTION

PLAYER: Jake Benedict, Christopher Newport; Noah Roots, Mary Washington

PITCHER: Cole Williams, Salisbury; Connor Hassan, Mary Washington

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Jake Benedict continued to lead off for the Captains this week and helped Christopher Newport capture a 3-0 week from the top of the lineup. He hit .500 (6-12) and reached base at a .588 clip with three walks and a hit-by-pitch. Once on base, he was dangerous with three stolen bases and eight runs scored. Benedict had a pair of doubles and a home run. Against Manchester, he delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth… Mary Washington's Noah Roots had another outstanding week after going 6-for-13 in four games this week (.462), while drawing a pair of walks. Against No. 9 Lynchburg, Roots went 2-for-3 with a double (that tied the score at 2 in the third inning), while walking once. Against Houghton, Roots went 1-for-2 in Game 1, while slamming a game-tying two-run homer in the sixth inning en route to a 3-2 victory. And in Game 2's 19-4 blowout win, Roots went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and scored a run. All told, Roots hit .462 during the week, while doubling twice, homering twice, while driving in four runs and scoring a pair himself. The graduate lefty drew a pair of walks as well for a weekly on-base-percentage of .533 and a slugging percentage of .846, while not making an error in the field at first base… Salisbury's Cole Williams pitched 13.1 strong innings across two starts during the Sea Gulls' 5-1 week, scattering six runs (three earned) and 11 hits with two walks and 12 strikeouts. On Sunday against Oswego State, Williams picked up his first win of the season by allowing two earned runs over a career-long 8.1 innings… In three games this past week, Mary Washington's Connor Hassan was nearly flawless on the mound as he didn't allow a run in three appearances out of the bullpen, while racking in a pair of saves. Against No. 9 Lynchburg, Hassan worked around a few runners by forcing a double play and then getting a lazy flyout to end the ninth inning. Against Hampden-Sydney on Thursday, Hassan recorded the final two outs and stranded the winning run on second base, while recording his first save of the season. And on Saturday in a 3-2 win over Houghton, Hassan made quick work as he recorded his second save of the week, while striking out three batters en route to UMW's second consecutive victory.
