UMW’s Henson, Boyd Sweep C2C Weekly Baseball Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 12th week of the 2026 baseball season.  Mary Washington's Ryan Henson claimed C2C Player of the Week honors, while the Eagles Matthew Boyd was tabbed C2C Pitcher of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Henson, Mary Washington

Mary Washington sophomore Ryan Henson had the hot bat against No. 24 Christopher Newport on Saturday as the first baseman doubled twice and drove in three runs, while collecting three hits. Henson's bases-clearing 3-RBI double against the Captains tied the game at five in the sixth. He doubled once more in the eighth, scoring the seventh run in the Eagles' 7-6 victory which clinched the top seed in the C2C Baseball Championship.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Matthew Boyd, Mary Washington

Mary Washington senior Matthew Boyd was nothing short of stellar after coming on in relief against No. 24 Christopher Newport on Saturday. The senior right-hander tossed 4.1 innings in relief as he came in with a 5-2 deficit before finishing with a 7-6 victory. He yielded just three hits and no walks, while striking out two, and allowing just one unearned run to cross the plate as he shut down CNU's hot offense over the final 13 outs.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury's Nathan Tondreault slashed .500/.643/1.200 with a double, two homers, four RBIs, five runs scored, three steals, and a 1.843 OPS in the Sea Gulls' three wins for the week. On Wednesday against Immaculata he went yard twice for his third multi-homer game of the season… Christopher Newport's Gus Croll added two more multi-hit games to his red-hot tear at the plate at the end of the season, registering multi-hit games in eight of the last nine games of the year. He drove in five of CNU's 11 runs this week and scored two more. Against Mary Washington, Croll hit a two-run home run and added two singles for a three-hit day. On Friday against Marymount, he was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double. With the strong finish, Croll is now hitting .390 on the season… Salisbury's Aidan Brinsfield spun five no-hit innings to spearhead a seven-inning combined no-no against Cairn on Friday. He walked one and fanned five over an efficient 58 pitches. Brinsfield has given up one or zero earned runs in eight of his last nine starts… Christopher Newport's Dylan Blazer retired all nine batters he faced in three innings of relief against Marymount University on Friday afternoon. The senior right-hander struck out one while keeping the Saints off the basepaths in a tie game. When the Captains scored in the bottom of the eighth, Blazer was in line for his first career win and came back out for the ninth to shut the door.
