Four CAC Champions To Be Crowned Saturday

Four teams will have the honor of calling themselves CAC Champions on Saturday, with championship showdowns on the slate in field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball. Each of the four CAC Champions will earn automatic bids into the NCAA Tournament. 

Men's Soccer 

#5 Christopher Newport at #2 Penn State Harrisburg | 2 p.m. | Live Stats

Second-seeded Penn State Harrisburg (13-4-1) looks to complete its last-to-first place turnaround, hosting fifth-seeded Christopher Newport (15-3-4) at 2 p.m. The two sides met two weeks ago in Middletown on Oct. 25, with the host Lions coming away with a 3-1 triumph over the Captains. PSH topped sixth-seeded St. Mary's 1-0 in double-overtime in Wednesday's semifinals, while Christopher Newport defeated top-seeded Salisbury 2-0. 

Women's Soccer 

#6 Mary Washington at #4 Frostburg State | 2 p.m. | Video/Live Stats

The women's soccer championship features a pair of squads that captured road semifinal victories - fourth-seeded Frostburg State and sixth-seeded Mary Washington. The Bobcats (12-4-5) welcome the Eagles (12-6-2) to Frostburg for a 2 p.m. kickoff. FSU advanced to the title game with a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout victory at top-seeded Christopher Newport, while Mary Washington ousted second-seeded Salisbury 2-1. In the regular season, Frostburg State blanked UMW 3-0 back on Oct. 8. 

Volleyball

#6 Salisbury at #1 Christopher Newport | 3 p.m. | Video/Live Stats

Top-seeded Christopher Newport (30-3) will host sixth-seeded Salisbury (22-9) in a rematch of last year's CAC Championship. Both teams roll into Saturday's showdown with winning streaks, as CNU has won 12 straight and Salisbury has captured seven in a row. The Captains rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeated fifth-seeded St. Mary's 3-2 in Thursday's semifinals, while Salisbury swept past second-seeded Southern Virginia 3-0. The Captains and Sea Gulls opened their CAC regular seasons against each other all the way back on Sept. 30, with CNU capturing a tight 3-2 victory. 

Field Hockey

#3 Christopher Newport at #1 Salisbury | 5 p.m. | Video/Live Stats

In a rematch of last year's title game, third-seeded Christopher Newport (12-6) travels to top-seeded Salisbury (16-1) for a 5 p.m. start. CNU knocked off second-seeded Mary Washington 3-0 in Wednesday's semis, and Salisbury blanked fifth-seeded York 5-0. Salisbury is seeking its second straight and 18th overall CAC title. The regular season matchup between the two teams resulted in a 4-1 Sea Gull win on Oct. 14.
