STILL DANCING!!! Mary Washington Men's Basketball To Host 4-Team Regional Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament ... Christopher Newport Women To Fly To The Great Northwest For Third-Round Action
The CAC Men's Basketball Tournament champion Mary Washington Eagles will host a four-team "Sweet 16" Regional championship tournament Friday and Saturday while the Christopher Newport women's team will fly to Walla Walla, Wash., to compete in third-round NCAA Tournament action.
MARY WASHINGTON MEN: The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team will host the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 this weekend in Fredericksburg, Va.
The Eagles, who advance to the sectional round for the first time ever, will host Virginia Wesleyan College in the second game on Friday, at 7:30 p.m., after Williams College takes on Albertus Magnus College at 5:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to the final four.
CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT WOMEN: The National
College Athletic Association's Division III women's basketball
committee has announced the four host sites for next weekend's
sectional round of the Division III Championship tournament and the
20th-ranked Christopher Newport University Captains will make its
first ever trip to Washington state, taking on seventh-ranked
Whitman College.
The Missionaries will host a four-team section, with top-ranked
Thomas More facing 17th-ranked Texas-Trinity in the other matchup.
The games will be held at the Sherwood Center in Walla Walla,
Washington. Walla Walla is two and a half hours from Spokane,
Washington and four hours from Portland, Oregon and Seattle,
Washington.
