Christopher Newport was voted conference favorites atop the 2022-23 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Men's Basketball Preseason Poll. The Captains collected 36 points and six first-place votes to lead the rankings. 

Mary Washington collected 30 points to finish second and Salisbury comes in at the third spot with 27 points and a first-place vote. UC Santa Crus is positioned in fourth with 21 points while Pratt Institute received 14 points to place them in fifth.

Finlandia finishes in sixth with 10 points while C2C newcomer Warren Wilson College rounds out the rankings with nine points.

The 2022-23 season kicks off Tuesday, Nov. 8 with the C2C Men's Basketball Championship, a 6-team tournament, being hosted by UC Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, Cali. on Feb. 23, 24, & 25. 

Below is a brief preview of each team entering the 2022-23 season: 

#1 Christopher Newport: Christopher Newport posted a 27-3 record last year and advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Division III Tournament. CNU won 24 straight games from late November until mid-March, the second-longest winning streak in school history. The Captains return a group that includes eight seniors, including three fifth-year players. The veteran crew will likely be led by junior Jahn Hines, a third team NABC All-American and Player of the Year last season in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference. Head Coach John Krikorian is heading into his 12th season leading the Captains, and has recorded a record of 260-62 (.807). His squads have advanced to the NCAA's eight times in 11 years, including the last six tournaments.

#2 Mary Washington: Mary Washington welcomes back a solid nucleus supported by a strong group of newcomers, as the Eagles will look to return to the conference championship in 2022-23. Heading the list of returnees is senior guard DaShawn Cook, the team's top returning scorer, who poured in 12.1 PPG a season ago. In the post, the Eagles will look to returnees Emmanuel Aghayere and Daniel Peterson, who netted 7.1 PPG and a team-high 8.2 rebounds per contest in his first collegiate season a year ago. All-conference forward Greg Rowson returns after missing last season with injury, and will look to help lead the offense.

#3 Salisbury: The Sea Gulls return two of its three All-C2C honorees from 2021-22 with senior guard Greg Bloodsworth and Jordan Oates. Oates was the only player in the C2C to average a double-double and totaled eight last season. Oates led the conference in rebounding with 11.5 boards per game and averaged 12.4 points per game. In his first season in the maroon and gold, Bloodsworth averaged 12.9 points per game with was second-best on the team and was fifth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio with a 1.8 average. The Sea Gulls will also lean on the experience of fifth-year senior Brandon Craig and fellow seniors Cameron Heard and Ryan Marshall. 

#4 UC Santa Cruz: Three starters return for Matt Malone's second season, with grad student Calvin Keyes and senior Avri Finch giving the Banana Slugs one of their most experienced frontcourts ever.A seasoned group of underclassmen including Zino Okah, Zach Granberry, Tyler Kessinger and Trey Keating will challenge for playing time. The Banana Slugs will host the Conference Tournament at Kaiser Permanente Arena in February.

#5 Pratt Institute:  Pratt begins the new season under David Danzig who was elevated to head coach in July after a season on the sidelines as assistant coach. The Cannoneers return their top four scorers led by junior Patrick O'Gorman (17.6 ppg, 41.2 FG%), sophomore Cameron Hatcher (13.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg), and Daniel Golub (11.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg) who all averaged double-figures in 2021-22. Shannon Bibbs (12.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg in 2019-20) also rejoins the team as a scoring threat after sitting out last season and four first-years will look to compete for minutes as Danzig looks to make a repeat appearance in the C2C Championship.


#6 Finlandia: Experience will be a strength for Finlandia in the 2022-23 season.  The Lions return 13 players led by senior Danny Zuchak (8.1 points, 2nd in C2C with 1.80 steals per game.)

#7 Warren Wilson : The Warren Wilson Men's Basketball team is gearing up to make some noise in its first year of C2C competition. The Owls look to improve on last season as they return six players and welcome thirteen new faces this year.
