DiSalvo Continues Record-Breaking Tournament Performance In Leading Christopher Newport To Its Second-Straight CAC Golf Crown

Christopher Newport junior Matt DiSalvo continued to break conference records in leading the Captains to the 2015 CAC Golf Championship - the team's second-straight title.

DiSalvo, who broke the CAC single-round record with a 64 in Saturday's first championship round, came back Sunday with a one-under-par 69 for a championship medalist total of seven-under-par 133.  The tournament total breaks the CAC overall and conference record.  DiSalvo was named the CAC Player of the Year.

He and sophomore teammates Harry Nodwell (71-72=143) and Charlie Peavley (73-72=145) finished second and third overall in the championship to lead the Captains to the title.  CNU's two-day team total of 15-over-par 575 - the first time in eight years a team has finished the tournament with a total score under 600.  

CNU's Jamie Coleman was named the CAC Coach of the Year for the second-straight season.

For the second-straight year, Penn State Harrisburg finished second in the CAC championship with a team score of 606.  The Lions were led by Tyler Shank in fifth place with a 148 and Keith Miller, the 2015 CAC Rookie of the Year, who placed sixth with a 150.  Tyler Massar also tied for seventh place in the tournament with a two-day score of 153.

York College finished third for the second-straight year with a team score of 622, led by Ryan Wolbach, who tied Peavley for third place with a two-day score of 145.  Wolbach's second-day score of 69 tied DiSalvo for the best score of the day.  Wolbach and DiSalvo were the only players to break par of 70 during the championship.

Marymount, paced by Brad Johnson's seventh-place finish (153), placed fourth in the team standings with 659, followed by Wesley (671), William Paterson (681) and New Jersey City (986).

NJCU's top player Frank Rivera, who finished 30th overall, was named the winner of the Andrew Geyer Award, presented by Wesley College in honor of former Wolverine standout Andrew Guyer, will recognize a CAC golfer annually for “outstanding academic credentials, athletics, citizenship and community service.”

David Boslough, the 2014 Andrew Geyer Award winner, finished 12th in the 2015 CAC Championship and completed his York career as a three-time All-CAC award winner.
