Shank, Penn State Harrisburg Take Third at Washington & Jefferson Invitational
Sophomore Tyler Shank placed third individually to lead the Penn State Harrisburg men's golf team to a third-place team finish at the Washington and Jefferson Invitational early this week.
Christopher Newport, associate golf member New Jersey City, and Wesley were also in action this week, with CNU placing 17th at the highly-competitive Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational, New Jersey City placing 12th at the Griffin Invitational and Wesley taking 12th at the Ted Keller Memorial.
For Penn State Harrisburg, Shank shot 79-75 for a two-day total of 154, four shots off the individual champion. Collin Hagenbuch also posted a top-10 finish for the Lions, claiming 10th with a two-round total of 158.
The Lions totaled 642 strokes in the event en route to third place. Host Washington and Jefferson Lee shot a 612 and Point Park took second at 631.
Playing at The Raven Golf Course in the Sandestin Golf and Beach
Resort, Christopher Newport secured 17th place at
the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational - an
event that featured some of the best teams in Division III college
golf. CNU finished with a 305-312-306 line as a team, shooting
71-over par in the 54-hole event.
Captain freshman Wonsuk Rhee finished the
three-day event with a 79-74-73, clawing up the leaderboard to tie
for 38th on the player leaderboard, leading the way for the
Captains. Rhee finished 13-over par, just 17 strokes behind the
individual champions.
At the Ted Keller Memorial, Wesley was led by Dylan Chessher on its way to a 12th-place team finish out of the 15 competing teams. Chessher shot 72-79 for a +11 151 to claim ninth out of 74 golfers, just seven strokes off the leaders.
