Christopher Newport and York Wrap Up Fall Golf Campaigns with Tournament Titles

Christopher Newport and York both claimed tournament titles on Tuesday to wrap up their fall men's golf campaigns this week. CNU won the Ted Keller Memorial, while York captured the Alvernia Fall Invitational crown. 

All seven CAC golf squads were in action over the past few days. Marymount (10th) and Wesley (15th) also competed at the Ted Keller Memorial, Penn State Harrisburg took second at the Peter C. Rossin Memorial Tournament, William Paterson placed eighth at the Muhlenberg Invitational and New Jersey City defeated Yeshiva in a head-to-head matchup before finishing 14th at the Chestnut Hill Invitational. 

York's win at the Alvernia Fall Invitational was its first tournament championship of the year, as the Spartans shot a team score of 331 to defeat second-place Lebanon Valley by 11 strokes at Ledge Rock Golf Club in Mohnton, Pa. The Spartans were led by freshman Dan Doran, who placed fifth with a six-over-par 78. Junior Alex Colton shot an 81 to finish tied for eighth in the 47-player field. 

With a final card adding up to 29-over par, Christopher Newport edged out Franklin & Marshall by one stroke to capture the Ted Keller Memorial championship. The Captains fired a second round 296 to hang on and pick up their second win of the fall season. Senior Matt DiSalvo was the top finisher, tying for third with a two-day total of four-over 144 (70-74). Sam Robinson also placed in the top 10 in eighth at 148. 

Also competing at the Ted Keller Memorial, Marymount, which finished 10th, was led by sophomore Erik Timlin in a tie for 11th place with a score of 150 (+10) over two days of competition. Wesley, which placed 15th, was led by Dylan Chessher and Matt Maskell tied for 36th with two-day totals of 157. 

Penn State Harrisburg took second in the team standings at the Peter C. Rossin Memorial Tournament hosted by Washington & Jefferson. Sophomore Keith Miller tied for second place individually with rounds of 77-78, while Tyler Shank took fifth at 78-84. 

William Paterson finished eighth of 12 teams on Monday at the Muhlenberg Invitational.
The Pioneers had a team total of 336 (+56) at the par-70, 6,415-yard Lehigh Country Club. Senior James Nuzzo led WP with an 81 (+11, tied-21st). 

New Jersey City opened the week with a 361-381 victory over Yeshiva on Sunday in head-to-head action, before finishing 14th at the Griffin Invitational hosted by Chestnut Hill at Inniscrone Golf Club on Tuesday. Freshman Bobby Williams led Gothic Knights vs. Yeshiva with a collegiate-low round of 82, while freshman Alexander Sill shot an 87 at the Griffin Invitational to tie for 41st place.
