Salisbury Gains Third #1 Preseason Ranking In USILA Poll

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its 2008 NCAA Division III men's lacrosse coaches' preseason poll and the defending national champion Salisbury University Sea Gulls check-in at No. 1. This is the third preseason poll that SU has been selected as the top team in Division III.

There are four preseason top 20 teams on Salisbury's 2008 schedule. The Sea Gulls and No. 2 Gettysburg College will meet on March 29 in Gettysburg, Pa. The Sea Gulls second game of the season welcomes No. 5 Lynchburg College to Sea Gull Stadium on February 23. When the maroon and gold head south to Florida for their Spring Break Trip the Sea Gulls will face No. 12 St. Lawrence on March 20. The Gulls close out their regular-season in the annual "War on the Shore" game against No. 11 Washington (Md.) College at home on April 26.

Salisbury will host Saint Joseph's this Saturday, February 2, at Noon in a scrimmage at Sea Gull Stadium. The maroon and gold will then travel to North Carolina, the following week, to face Division I preseason No. 1 Duke University in another scrimmage.

SU opens the 2008 season on Saturday, February 16, at home against Virginia Wesleyan College. The non-conference game will begin at Noon at Sea Gull Stadium.
