Salisbury And Stevenson Gain First-Round Byes In NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament
Salisbury and Stevenson both earned first-round byes and the top two seeds in the South region for the 2011 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, which begins Wednesday (5/11).
Salisbury (17-1), which finished second in the regular season and won the 2011 CAC playoff title, will host the winner of Wednesday's Endicott (15-4) at Springfield (11-5) game in a second-round battle on Saturday (5/14).
Stevenson (17-2), which won the CAC regular-season crown and fell to Salisbury in the 2011 playoff title game, will host the winner of Wednesday's Cabrini (12-5) at Widener (15-2) game in a second-round battle on Saturday (5/14).
Salisbury and Stevenson would each have to win two games to get the chance to meet again this season. Stevenson won the CAC regular-season crown 16-12 at Salisbury on April 16. A week later, Salisbury battled back from an 8-3 first-quarter deficit for a 16-14 victory at Stevenson for the CAC playoff title.
Round 3 between Salisbury and Stevenson, if the team's qualify, will be played in the national semifinals on Sunday, May 22 at Salisbury.
