8th-Ranked Salisbury Men's Lacrosse Falls Short In Late Rally, Closes Season With 13-11 NCAA Quarterfinal Round Loss At Lynchburg

Fourth-ranked Lynchburg broke loose late in the second quarter and eventually built a six-goal lead that Salisbury was unable to overcome as the 8th-ranked Sea Gulls ended their 2015 men's lacrosse season with a 13-11 loss in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal round.

Lynchburg's five-goal surge over a seven-minute span in the second quarter broke a 4-4 tie and allowed the host Hornets to take a 9-5 lead to the break.

LC then scored twice in the third quarter, building the lead to 11-5, before Jake Rotman's only goal of the game, with just under two minutes left in the third quarter, re-ignited the Sea Gulls' attack.

The teams traded two goals each early in the fourth quarter before Salisbury ran off three straight scores to cut the deficit to two on Carson Kalama's third goal of the game.  But time ran out on the Sea Gulls, who entered the game with an 11-game win streak but finished the season as CAC champions with a 17-5 overall record.

Sean Fitzgerald also contributed a goal and three assists for Salisbury.  Keeper Connor Anderson was credited with six saves on 19 Lynchburg shots.

Dane Angell led the Hornets with four goals while Austin Stewart added two goals and two assists for the winners.
