Salisbury and York Notch Victories in NCAA Men's Lacrosse First Round
Third-ranked Salisbury and seventh-ranked York each notched victories in the first round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday. This marks the second time in the last three years the CAC has sent two teams to the second round of the tournament.
York defeated Eastern 11-6 at Kinsley Field, sending the Spartans (17-3) to the second round for the second time in program history. The Spartans will face Washington & Lee, a 9-5 winner over Sewanee, on Saturday.
Hunter Davis and Brendan McGrath led the Spartan attack with two goals and an assist each. Josh Kluver caused three turnovers and collected four ground balls, while Caleb Abney made 15 saves in net.
Salisbury rolled past Catholic 19-6 at Sea Gull Stadium. The Sea Gulls (19-1) will face Colorado College (12-4), an 11-10 winner over Whittier in overtime, in Saturday's second round.
Carson Kalama (4g, 2a), Nick Garbarino (5g), and James Burton (3g, 1a) led a potent SU attack. Andrew Ternahan caused a game-high four turnovers for the Sea Gull defense while Colin Reymann made five stops in goal.
