Salisbury's Thrasher & DeFazio Sweep C2C Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week Awards

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the fourth week of the 2022 men's lacrosse season. Salisbury senior attacker Issac Thrasher earned C2C Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Salisbury sophomore long-stick midfielder John DeFazio claimed C2C Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Isaac Thrasher - Salisbury

Salisbury senior attacker Issac Thrasher had a big week with a pair of five-goal performances in Salisbury's 3-0 week with two ranked wins. In Saturday's game vs. No. 4/6 Lynchburg, Thrasher set career-highs in points, assists and goals with five goals and three assists. Thrasher matched his career-high scoring mark a day later with five goals in Salisbury's 22-11 win over Randolph-Macon.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: John DeFazio - Salisbury

Salisbury sophomore long-stick midfielder John DeFazio caused nine turnovers and scooped up 13 ground balls in the Sea Gulls' 3-0 week. DeFazio started the week with three ground balls and a caused turnover in Wednesday's win over No. 20 Stevens. On Saturday against the No. 4/6 University of Lynchburg, DeFazio had a career day to help the Sea Gulls shut down the Hornet attack. He caused a career-high five turnovers and scooped up five ground balls. DeFazio continued to play elite defense for Salisbury on Sunday against Randolph-Macon. He caused three turnovers and scooped up another five ground balls.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Drew Miller led Christopher Newport with 11 points while helping the Captains post a pair of victories during the week. On Wednesday in a 21-9 triumph against Grove City, he scored twice and established a new career-high with five assists, which equaled the fifth-highest single-game total in program history. On Saturday, he capped off his week with a career-high four goals during a 20-10 win at Catholic...freshman Warner Cabaniss established a new program record with 17 ground balls during Christopher Newport's 20-10 victory at Catholic on Saturday. Against the Cardinals, he dominated at the faceoff 'x' while winning 19 of his 25 battles. Eventually, he collected 17 ground balls, which topped the previous school standard of 14 set by Ryan Mills against Mary Washington on March 29, 2017. On Wednesday, he also secured eight rollers while capturing 15 of his 26 faceoff attempts during a 21-9 win over Grove City....J.D. Nozemack continued his early season scoring tear this week in a pair of Mary Washington victories. The senior scored one goal and added five assists in a 14-3 win at Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday, and followed that effort with two goals and three assists in leading UMW past the Eagles of Bridgewater College on Saturday. For the season, Nozemack ranks first in the conference in assists, with 16, is second in the league with 30 points, and is fourth in goals with 14...junior Riley Green posted perhaps his best week of the season, leading Mary Washington to a pair of wins, over Lebanon Valley and Bridgewater this week. On Wednesday at Leb Valley, Green made 10 saves without allowing a score in a 14-3 win, and posted 15 saves and four ground balls in going the distance in a 13-9 win over Bridgewater on Saturday.
