Christopher Newport Grace, Seifert Earn Men's Soccer CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2016 Academic All-District Teams for men's soccer on Thursday, listing a pair of Christopher Newport student-athletes among those honored. Senior Jimmy Grace and sophomore Bobby Seifert each collected their first career honor from the organization.
With the award, CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes from eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot,where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Grace, playing in his senior season after missing all of last year to an injury, has been the Captains' offensive leader all season out of the midfield. The Ashburn, Va. native is leading the league in scoring with a career-high 28 points. He has also scored a league-high 11 goals with five game-winning strikes, while also dishing out six assists this season. Grace was named the Co-Rookie of the Year in 2013 and is a two-time second team All-Conference selection. Off the field, Grace carries a 3.58 cumulative GPA while majoring in Finance.
On the other end of the field, sophomore Seifert is one of the team's top defensive players. The second-year player from Springfield, Va. has led the team in minutes played in each of his first two seasons and has, in fact, only been off the field for a combined total of 25 minutes in 37 games. He has registered 3,471 minutes of a possible 3,496, anchoring a strong defensive unit that has picked up 16 shutouts in that span. As center back, Seifert was named a second team All-State selection last year and was also named to the Conference All-Academic squad. He is majoring in Computer Engineering and boasts a 3.56 cumulative GPA.
