Two More All-America Awards For Mary Washington On Friday At The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships

Mary Washington junior Stephen Clendenin and the women's 800 freestyle relay team garnered two more All-America awards Friday, raising the team's total to seven in the first three days of the 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

Through Friday's third day of national championship competition, the Mary Washington women's team is in 18th place with 46 points, while the men are tied for 48th with five points.

Clendenin took 13th place in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.49, his second-straight day of earning All-America status.  He was 16th in the finals of the 400 IM on Thursday.

In women's action, the UMW 800 yard freestyle relay team of Nina Michelle Sawyer, Cameron Figuers, Adriana Lesiuk and Sarah Crockett finished 11th overall with a time of 7:37.39. 

Sophomore Megan DeSmit finished 31st in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:07.74.

St. Mary's freshman Kelly Heyde also continued to participate in the championship, placing 27th in the morning trials of the 200 butterfly (2:08.74).
