Mary Washington Senior Alex Anderson Claims 2nd Place in 400 IM

For the second straight night, Mary Washington senior Alex Anderson swam to the second-fastest time in NCAA history en route to a second-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.

On Thursday night, Anderson took second in the 400 IM with a time of 3:47.25, surpassing his own NCAA record of 3:48.50 that he set in Thursday morning's prelims. The record-breaking time was not quite fast enough for his third straight national title in the event, however, as Kenyon's Harrison Kurley touched in 3:46.62 to grab top honors.

Anderson returns to the pool tomorrow in the 200 butterfly for his third and final event of the 2015 Championships.

York junior Kyle Walthall opens up his NCAA Championship meet tomorrow in the 100 breaststroke.
