Mary Washington Men's Tennis Falls to Johns Hopkins in NCAA Tournament Third Round
Mary Washington saw its season come to a close with a 5-0 defeat to Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Tournament Third Round on Sunday in Fredericksburg. UMW ends the season at 21-6 overall, while JHU advances to the quarterfinals.
The Blue Jays swept all three of the doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead. Tyler Carey and Evan Charles rallied from down 7-4 to cut it to 7-6, before ultimately falling 8-6. JHU won 8-5 at two, and 8-4 at three doubles.
Hopkins took number two and four singles to clinch the victory. Stratton Gilmore was leading at three singles, 6-4, 1-4 when play ended. David Lunding-Johansson and Brandon Griffin each won their first set at five and six singles.
