Salisbury Softball Pitcher Erika Brittingham Earns Second-Team All-America Honors
Junior pitcher Erika Brittingham had a great 2011 season. It started on February 25, when she pitched her first collegiate no-hitter in the Sea Gulls' season opener, and ended with a Regional final appearance on May 15.
On Friday, the Georgetown, Del., native was recognized for her outstanding season by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, earning second-team All-America honors.
Brittingham was a key component of the Salisbury University softball team's successful 36-6 season; she posted a 24-3 record in the circle, boasting an earned run average of just 0.85 in over 157 innings of work. Additionally, Brittingham struck out 274 batters in 2011.
The junior was also named Capital Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week three times this season before collecting CAC Player of the Year honors and a spot on the NFCA All-Region first team.
