Frostburg State 1B Caitlin Lovend And Salisbury Pitcher Rachel Johnson Named To Capital One 2013 Academic All-America Softball Team

Frostburg State junior first baseman/DH Caitlin Lovend And Salisbury junior pitcher Rachel Johnson were named to the Capital One 2013 Division III Academic All-America Softball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Lovend is making her second-straight third-team appearance on the Capital One Academic All-America team.  She is the first two-time honoree during FSU's three-year membership in the CAC.  She is also the third Bobcat to earn Academic All-America honors during the 2012-13 academic year, joining soccer standouts Adria Graham (first team) and Stephanie Fazenbaker (third team) in that exclusive club.

Johnson earned second-team Capital One Academic All-America recognition.  The 19th Academic All-American during Salisbury's CAC membership, which dates back to 1994, Johnson was recently named the CAC Player of the Year and led the Gulls to third place in the NCAA Championship Tournament.

Six CAC student-athletes have been named to the Capital One Academic All-America team during the 2012-13 season.
