Salisbury Softball Locks Up Top Seed in CAC Tournament with Sunday Sweep

Salisbury swept Frostburg State in Sunday's only CAC softball doubleheader to lock up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the CAC Tournament for the Sea Gulls. 

The Sea Gulls (31-4, 13-1 CAC), ranked fifth in the nation, will host the double-elimination CAC Tournament from Thursday through Saturday at the SU Softball Field.

The CAC Tournament opener will feature fifth-seeded Mary Washington (11-27, 6-8) and fourth-seeded York (24-14, 7-7) on Thursday at 10 a.m. Second-seeded and ninth-ranked Christopher Newport (32-5, 12-2) will take on third-seeded Frostburg State (24-12, 9-5) in the first round noon. 

The Salisbury sweep over Frostburg State on Sunday concluded a busy final weekend of CAC softball, as four doubleheaders took place on Saturday. 

Salisbury opened its 4-0 weekend with a sweep at Mary Washington, winning 12-1 in five innings and 9-4. 

Christopher Newport pushed its winning streak to five games with a home sweep over Wesley (12-16, 5-9), winning 8-1 and 10-2 in five innings.

Frostburg State and York split a twinbill in Frostburg. The Spartans took game one, 3-1, while the Bobcats responded with a 4-1 game two triumph.  

Penn State Harrisburg improved to 11-16 overall and 4-10 in conference play with a sweep over Southern Virginia (7-29, 0-14), capturing 9-1 and 9-4 victories.
