Fischer And Hicks Lead 5 CAC Players Onto The 2014 D3hoops.com All-Region Women's Basketball Team
Two-time CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year Katelyn Fischer of Marymount University and 2014 CAC Player of the Year Brittany Hicks of York College lead a five-player contingent from the conference onto the D3hoops.com Women's Basketball All-Region team.
Fisher and Hicks were both named to the D3hoops.com All-Region first team while York's Kristen Haley and Christopher Newport's Tia Perry were second-team all-region choices and Salisbury's Anna Hacket earned third-team honors. Five of the 15 players named to the all-region team were from the CAC.

Recently named First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference for the third-straight season, Fischer averaged 15.5 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor, 39.1% from three-point range and 83.2 percent from the free throw line. She led the CAC in assists, was second in free throw shooting, third in three-point shooting and assist to turnover ratio, eighth in scoring and ninth in steals. On the national stage Fischer ranked eighth in assists per game, 35th in A:TO ratio and 38th in three-point shooting. For her career, Fischer set the CAC record for career three-pointers made and set Marymount records for career assists, three-pointers, three-point shooting and free throw shooting. She is also tied for third place overall at MU in scoring and sixth in steals. Fischer is a two-time CAC Player of the Year and has received numerous All-America accolades during her sophomore and junior seasons.
Hicks earned first team honors while Haley was a second team selection after the Spartans went 26-3 with a Capital Athletic Conference and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Hicks finished the year as the Capital Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Year after she averaged 17.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Hicks shot 50.8% from the floor, 38.9% from three and 76.5% from the free throw line. She dished out 36 assists, blocked 17 shots and collected 26 steals in her 29 games. It is the second straight year that Hicks has earned Atlantic All-Region honors. She was a three-time All-CAC selection during her Spartan career. Hicks finished her career with 1,589 points in 110 games, good for an average of 14.4 points. She collected 990 rebounds and averaged 9.0 boards per game. Hicks owns the school and conference record for made free throws as she concluded her career with 530 made free throws in 712 attempts. She was a career 46.8% shooter from the floor and 74.4% from the line. Hicks ended her career fourth in points, third in games played, first in free throws made, and second in rebounding. Hicks led the Spartans in scoring 18 times this year and in rebounding 21 times in the Spartans' 29 games. She finished her career with a school-record 42 double doubles including 16 this season.
Haley was the other part of the Spartans' dynamic frontcourt combination as she averaged 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Haley shot 48.3% from the floor and 70.5% from the free throw line. She blocked a team and conference high 45 shots while she also handed out 26 assists and collected 24 steals. Haley was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference first team as she finished her career as a four-time All-CAC selection including the 2010-11 CAC Rookie-of-the-Year. She led the Spartans in scoring nine times this winter and in rebounding eight times. Haley notched four double-doubles for the year and finished her career with 28. Haley finished her career with 1,548 points, 886 rebounds, 184 blocked shots, and 115 games played. She finished her career sixth in scoring, fourth in rebounding, first in blocked shots and tied for first in games played. The duo were a key part of a senior class who won 86 games, captured two CAC titles and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Perry, a first-team all-star in her first season in the CAC, is making her second-straight appearance on the D3hoops.com all-region team. She led the Captains to a 24-6 overall record, second place in both the regular season and post-season tournament, and a pair of NCAA Tournament wins and a trip to the Division III Sweet 16. The 11th-leading scorer in CNU women's basketball history, Perry ranked second on the team this year with a 15.4 scoring average and added 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Perry closed out her career with with 1,279 points and 656 rebounds.
Hackett has been named to the all-conference teams in all three seasons with Salisbury, including a first-team selection in 2012-13 and a second-team selection in 2011-12; she was named the CAC Rookie of the Year in her first season, as well. This season, the Germantown, Md., native led the CAC in scoring with 16.9 points per game and ranked third with 5.5 assists per game. Hackett led SU in both categories, while jumping into the all-time program ranks, currently sitting No. 10 with 1,241 career points and No. 5 with 384 career assists.
