York's Hicks Named 2nd Team All-America by D3hoops.com & DIII News; Marymount's Fischer, Christopher Newport's Perry Also Garner All-America Recognition
After each being named WBCA All-Americans last week, York senior Brittany Hicks, Marymount senior Katelyn Fischer and Christopher Newport senior Tia Perry each received additional All-America accolades.
Hicks was named a second team All-American by both D3hoops.com and DIII News, Fischer was honored as a third team selection by DIII News, and Perry received honorable mention accolades from DIII News.
The CAC Player of the Year, Hicks led York to a 26-3 record, the CAC Championship and a NCAA Tournament second round appearance. She averaged 17.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50.8% from the floor, 38.9% from three and 76.5% from the free throw line.
A two-time CAC Player of the Year and a 2014 first team all-conference selection for the third-straight season, Fischer averaged 15.5 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the floor, 39.1% from three-point range and 83.2 percent from the free throw line. She led the CAC in assists, was second in free throw shooting, third in three-point shooting and assist to turnover ratio, eighth in scoring and ninth in steals.
Perry, a first-team all-star in her first season in the CAC, led the Captains to a 24-6 overall record, second place in both the regular season and CAC tournament, and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. Perry ranked second on the team this year with a 15.4 scoring average and added 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
