Salisbury Women's Basketball Set for Sweet 16 Showdown With Amherst

No. 11 Salisbury continues its NCAA Tournament run on Friday with a Sweet 16 matchup against No. 12 Amherst (25-3) at Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. at the Panzer Athletic Center.
Friday's other sectional semifinal features host and No. 7 Montclair State (28-1) vs. No. 16 Bowdoin (25-4) at 7 p.m.
The two winners will meet in Saturday's sectional final at 6 p.m. with a spot in the NCAA Final Four on the line.
This marks Salisbury's first Sweet 16 appearance since 2002 and the third time in the last four years that a CAC team has advanced to the final 16. The Sea Gulls advanced to the second weekend of NCAA postseason play with victories over Bridgewater State (66-63) and Stockton (61-54) in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Amherst topped Eastern (68-51) and NYU (70-47) to reach the Sweet 16. Friday's contest will mark the first time the two sides have met on the hardwood.
