Mount Mary’s Vanessa Diaz Named C2C Women's Basketball Player of the Week
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of the 2024-25 women's basketball season. Mount Mary sophomore Vanessa Diaz was named C2C Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vanessa Diaz, Mount Mary
Mount Mary sophomore Vanessa Diaz led Mount Mary to a season opening victory over Blackburn in her first game back from an injury. She scored 18 points, shooting 5-for-8 from 3-point range (62.5%). Diaz also grabbed seven rebounds and had two assists.
HONORABLE MENTION
Adeline Riner, Mary Washington; Elizabeth Creed, Christopher Newport
C2C HIGHLIGHTS
Senior guard Adeline Riner led Mary Washington with 11.5 points per game in a pair of losses to open the season. She scored nine points in a 58-31 loss to Bridgewater, and then poured in 14 points in a 54-52 loss to Eastern Mennonite on Saturday… In a season-opening win against Willamette in the Doug McArthur Classic hosted by Puget Sound, Christopher Newport's Elizabeth Creed scored a team-high 12 points and hauled in six rebounds to lead the way for the nationally-ranked Captains. Playing just 14 minutes, the sophomore forward was 6-for-10 from the field and grabbed four offensive rebounds.
