Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Holds Off Trinity (Conn.) to Advance to NCAA Final Four; York Bows Out to Middlebury

NCAA Women's Lacrosse Bracket

Allie Hyson scored off a feed from Krissy Murphy with just 11 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Salisbury women's lacrosse team to a 9-8 triumph over Trinity (Conn.) in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

With the win, the Sea Gulls (21-1) advance to next weekend's Final Four in Salem, Va., where they will meet either Gettysburg or Amherst in the semifinals on Saturday. The two semifinal winners will compete in the championship game on Sunday at Kerr Stadium.

Hynson (3g) and Dana King (2g, 1a) paced the SU attack in the victory.

In another one-goal contest in Sunday's quarterfinals, York saw its season come to a close in heartbreaking fashion with an 11-10 loss to Middlebury in Middlebury, Vt.

It was a tale of two halves as the Spartans (15-5) led for most of the contest before the Panthers put together an incredible second-half comeback. York led 7-4 at halftime and 9-4 early in the second half, but Middlebury scored seven straight goals over a 20-minute span en route to the win. Meghan Fox led the Spartan attack with four goals in the loss, while Charlotte Wright made 12 saves in goal.
