CNU’s Guidi, SU’s Hunsinger Capture C2C Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2023 women's lacrosse season. Christopher Newport's Syd Guidi was named C2C Offensive Player of the Week, while Salisbury's Kaitlyn Hunsinger claimed C2C Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Syd Guidi, Christopher Newport

Junior Syd Guidi pieced together a historic performance for Christopher Newport during the squad's 17-9 victory at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. Against the Yellow Jackets, she dominated possession while collecting 13 draw controls, which equaled the second-highest total in school history.  Capitalizing on the extra possessions, she posted four goals and an assist. Overall, she became just the fifth player in program history with at least 10 draws and five points in a single game. Her performance on Wednesday also marked Guidi's third straight hat-trick and fifth consecutive multi-goal effort.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kaitlyn Hunsinger, Salisbury

Salisbury senior Kaitlyn Hunsinger turned in her third double-digit save performance of the season in the sixth-ranked Sea Gulls 11-5 win over eighth-ranked York. Hunsinger tallied 11 saves and allowed just five goals to improve her goals-against average to 7.85 on the season. The goalkeeper also caused a turnover and picked up three ground balls in the contest.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury senior Riley Hartman was all over the field in the sixth-ranked Sea Gulls 11-5 win over eighth-ranked York on Saturday afternoon. Hartman paced the offense with a game-high four points on two goals and two assists. The midfielder also scooped up three draw controls, two ground balls, and caused a turnover in the top-10 victory… Warren Wilson freshman Sydney Weber had standout performances this week with 11 goals, two assists, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Weber helped lead the offense and defense in this week's matchup versus Montreat, scoring four goals with an assist. She led a comeback in the Brevard game with seven goals. Weber leads the team with 34 goals in seven games. This week she broke the all-time draw controls for a season and the program with 64… Riley Rafterry-Lee anchored Christopher Newport's defensive unit while leading the Captains to a 17-9 win at Randolph-Macon on Wednesday. Against the Yellow Jackets, she pocketed a season-high four ground balls while adding one of the team's seven takeaways… Mary Washington junior Cailyn Tripp turned in a strong performance at #8 York on Wednesday, with 21 saves in the Eagles' 14-6 loss at the Spartans… Warren Wilson junior Tatum Fowler had a standout performance this week with four goals, two assists, eight ground balls, seven draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Fowler competed for ground balls all over the field and stepped up for six draw controls against Montreat. She shot 100% from the field with four goals in the loss to Montreat, plus added an assist in both games.  Fowler was key in transition play, especially as WWC fought for a comeback versus Brevard. The Owls scored five in a row in transition to limit the deficit to three at one point.
