Frostburg State's Adria Graham and Stephanie Fazenbaker and York's Melanie Glessner Repeat as Women's Soccer Academic All-Americans
Complete Academic All-America Team
A trio of CAC student-athletes earned 2013 Capital One Women's Soccer Academic All-America honors, announced Friday afternoon. All three student-athletes - Frostburg State's Adria Graham and Stephanie Fazenbaker and York's Melanie Glessner - received the accolade for the second straight year.
Graham was selected as a first-team Academic All-American, Fazenbaker earned second team honors, while Glessner made her way onto the third team.
Graham, a two-time CAC Player of the Year and three-time first team All-CAC selection, was named to the first team for the second straight year. The senior is a six-time Dean's list student and boasts a 3.96 GPA with a major in athletic training. Graham, a 2012 NSCAA All-American, ranks third in Frostburg State history in career points (133) and career goals (59).
Fazenbaker secured second team accolades for the first time after being named to the third team last season. A two-time All-CAC honoree, Fanzenbaker ranked third in the CAC in goals scored (12) and fourth in points (28). The junior is a four-time Dean's List student, and maintains a 3.96 GPA with a major in biology.
Graham and Fazenbaker were a dynamic scoring duo for Frostburg State this fall, combining to score 47 points in helping the Bobcats to an 8-7-3 overall record and a berth in the CAC Tournament.
Glessner landed on the third team for the second straight season. The junior goalkeeper helped lead York to the 2013 CAC title, earning first-team All-CAC honors along the way. She posted an 11-4-3 record between the pipes for the Spartans, compiling five shutouts and a 0.64 goals against average in 20 games played. She was a second-team All-CAC selection in 2012. Glessner is a sociology and criminal justice major with a minor in mathematics, boasting a 3.93 GPA.
With the three selections to the Academic All-America squad, the CAC has now had 10 women's soccer honorees and 75 among all sports.
Since entering the CAC in July 2010, eight Frostburg State student-athletes have received Academic All-America recognition, while Glessner is the ninth Academic All-American in York history and just the second to earn the honor twice.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
Academic All-Americans are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
