Top Seeds Christopher Newport And York Advance Through Semifinals With 3-1 Decisions To The 2013 CAC Women's Soccer Title Match

Top-seeded Christopher Newport erased an early deficit with two goals in the first half and one in the second to defeat fourth-seeded Salisbury by a 3-1 margin.  Meanwhile, second-seeded York broke a 1-1 halftime tie with two scores in the final 45 minutes for a 3-1 victory over third-seeded Mary Washington, setting up a YCP at CNU CAC Women's Soccer title match Saturday in Newport News, Va.

The Captains, in their first year as members of the CAC, won the regular-season title and will now play for the championship after defeating the Sea Gulls by a 1-0 margin.  CNU is ranked No. 5 in this week's NCAA South Atlantic Region.

The Spartans, who won their only previous CAC title in 2007, got a pair of second-half goals from Kayla Kovalsky, to earn a 3-1 win over UMW.  It will be YCP's fifth CAC championship game appearance (all since 2003).  YCP is ranked ninth in this week's NCAA South Atlantic Regional poll.

CNU won the regular-season encounter when Bupe Okeowo scored the only goal of the match late in the first half against the Spartans.
