Frostburg State and Christopher Newport Bow Out of NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament
Frostburg State and Christopher Newport were both knocked out of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament on Saturday. CNU dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Stevenson, while Frostburg State played to a 3-3 draw with SUNY Geneseo before being eliminated 2-1 in penalty kicks.
In Baltimore, Md., it was a tale of two halves for Frostburg State (13-4-6) as the Bobcats tied with SUNY Geneseo 3-3 after double overtime but the Knights advanced to the next round with a 2-1 advantage in penalty kicks.
Frostburg State jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage with three goals in the first 13 minutes of play. Erin Worthman finished a Brooke Longo feed in the fifth minute, Stephanie Fazenbaker buried a Longo feed two minutes later, and Longo registered an unassisted tally in the 13th minute to push the Bobcat lead to 3-0.
SUNY Geneseo wouldn't go away easily as the Knights cut the lead to 3-2 at the half with two scores from Leah Greene, before Emily Green knotted things up late in regulation to send the contest to overtime.

In Lynchburg, Va., Christopher Newport dropped a 1-0 overtime
decision to Stevenson. The Captains held a 15-12 shot advantage,
but it was the Mustangs who came away with the victory with the
game-winning score in the 95th minute of play.
CNU concludes its season at 12-4-4.
