Mary Washington’s Landel, Christopher Newport’s DiTommaso Claim C2C Women's Soccer Players of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2025 women's soccer season. Mary Washington's Maci Landel took home C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Christopher Newport's Bella DiTommaso earned C2C Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maci Landel, Mary Washington

Mary Washington junior Maci Landel tallied four goals and a pair of assists in two matchups against C2C opponents this past week. Against Salisbury on Saturday, Landel scored the first goal of the match before assisting on the other two goals in UMW's 3-0 win. And on Sunday against Regent, Landel recorded the program's first hat trick since 2018 when she netted the first three goals of the game in the 6-0 victory over the Royals. For the week, Landel recorded 10 points, four goals, and two assists on 12 shots and six shots-on-goal.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bella DiTommaso, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior Bella DiTommaso played the full 90 minutes in both games, including a shutout against Virginia Wesleyan.  She also scored the game's first goal and added an assist on the game-winning goal against nationally ranked Swarthmore on Saturday.  She now has played full time in seven straight games and 13 of 14 games this year -- she has played in all but eight minutes on the back line (99.4 percent of possible minutes). The Captains have nine shutouts in 14 games and have only surrendered five goals in 2025. Her goal against the Garnet opened the scoring and came off a free kick from about 40 yards away. Her assist was a throw-in to Hanna Heaton in the second half that lifted CNU to victory.

HONORABLE MENTION

OFFENSIVE: Hanna Heaton, Christopher Newport; Jordan Edwards, Salisbury

DEFENSIVE: Naomi Knight, Mary Washington

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Christopher Newport's Hanna Heaton factored into three of the four CNU goals this week including the game-winning goal against nationally ranked Swarthmore College on Saturday. Heaton assisted on the game's first goal against Virginia Wesleyan before adding her own tally less than a minute later to build a 2-0 lead against the cross-water rivals. Then, against Swarthmore, Heaton pulled CNU ahead, 2-1, with a blazing line drive from 20 yards away in the second half. She took 11 shots, putting seven on frame, and climbed to eighth on the all-time scoring chart with 81 points… Salisbury's Jordan Edwards assisted the first goal of game versus Hood, and minutes later scored by dribbling past the keeper… In a pair of games this weekend, Mary Washington's Naomi Knight tallied a goal on the Eagles' backline and held UMW's two opponents to just two shots in her 86 minutes of action. Against Salisbury, Knight knocked in a header on a corner kick, recording the third goal of the afternoon in a 3-0 win. And on Sunday, Knight helped lead the backline to holding Regent to zero shots.
