St. Mary's Volleyball Coach Morris Davis Resigns After Nine Years Leading The Seahawks
Scott Devine, the director of athletics and recreation at St. Mary's College of Maryland, announced Friday that head volleyball coach Morris Davis will be stepping down from his post after nine years at the helm. Davis, who resignation is effective immediately, is resigning in order to spend more time with his family.
A national search for his replacement will begin in late January 2013.
Davis led St. Mary's to a pair of second-place finishes in the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament in 2007 and 2008 in nine seasons at the helm of the Seahawk volleyball program. He earned CAC Coach of the Year honors in 2007 after the Seahawks posted a school record 30 wins and advanced to the league championship match for the first-time ever.
St. Mary's posted a nine-year record of 173-113 (36-31), including recording six consecutive winning seasons and notching five 20-win campaigns.
He coached two All-America selections as well as four all-region selections. Davis also mentored seven Seahawks to 16 All-Capital Athletic Conference selections, including seven first team awards. The school's first-ever AVCA Mid-Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year, Claire Kodan '11, and three CAC Rookies of the Year (2005, 2006, and 2012) also passed through the program during Davis' watch.
