Below is a brief preview of each team entering the 2024 season:
Salisbury: The Sea Gulls welcome back nine players from the 2023 group that secured the ninth conference title in program history and the first since 2012 under legendary coach Margie Knight. Salisbury went 6-0 against conference rivals Christopher Newport and Mary Washington to help blaze a path back to the Big Dance, and the team's five-set triumph over Williams secured back-to-back seasons with wins in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2011-12 campaigns. Among the stellar group of returners is AVCA Honorable Mention All-American Gwen Eustace, who ranked second in the league in hitting percentage (.343) and blocks per set (1.03) while racking up 237 total kills and 108 blocks. All-C2C honorees Grace Rail (5.09 D/S), Julie Altieri (6.55 A/S), and Kiley McTaggart (2.17 K/S) also bolster a squad with nine incoming freshmen, including three standing at 6-1 or taller.
Christopher Newport: Led by All-American Alyssa Dozier, the CNU volleyball team picked up two first-place votes in the preseason Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference coaches poll and is picked to finish second in 2024. Dozier was a second team AVCA All-American and earned C2C Player of the Year honors a year ago after recording 345 kills and 108 blocks. Also returning to the floor in 2024 is senior DS Noelle Starr, who earned first team All-State honors and was named the C2C Defensive Player of the Year after becoming just the fourth CNU player in program history to reach 1,500 career digs. Most of the starting lineup returns for veteran head coach Lindsay Birch including C2C Rookie of the Year Samantha Dorn and seniors Kyla McIntyre and Macy Burk. The Captains finished out 2023 receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 poll and reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round with a 22-13 overall record last year.
Mary Washington: UMW will welcome change this fall, coming off an NCAA Tournament third round appearance a season ago with a 30-5 record. The Eagles welcome back Emma Rohde, who was one of the greatest players in program history for her first season as head coach in Fredericksburg. The Eagles also welcome back 13 letter winners from last fall, including AVCA all-region and all-conference hitter Chloe Crosen, who placed second on the team with 264 kills and hit .339 (tops on team). She scored 57 total blocks (eight solo, 49 assist), and 296.5 points. Also back are key contributors Hannah Livermon, Brenna Campbell, Emily Flamm, Sarah Moore, and Lauren Foley.
UC Santa Cruz: The Banana Slugs bring back 12 returners from the 2023 roster after ending the season 13-18 with a fourth-place finish in the C2C Tournament. Among the returners for UCSC, is two-time second team All-Conference player Kelly Ann Greene who finished the 2023 campaign with a .304 hitting percentage while recording 32 aces and 92 total blocks. The Slugs also bring back Kate Lau and Claudia Moeller who will look to help lead the attack with the pair averaging 1.96 and 1.83 kills per set last season.
Mount Mary: New Head Coach Maida Wolff takes over for Natalie Balleto as the Blue Angel Volleyball team heads into the 2024 season. The Blue Angels won their final two contests of the 2023 campaign and hope to continue the positive momentum. Emma White returns after a stellar 2023 campaign from the setter position and is joined by Harlee McDowell and Rosalinda Palacios who were major contributor's last season.
Warren Wilson: In the program's second season, Warren Wilson returns eight players and has added a pair of transfers and three freshmen. Key returners for head coach Kristy Kamer are senior Kaitlyn Helinsky, who was a second team All-C2C selection last year, along with Vera Pandolfo, Lillian DeMeglio, Josie McCoy, and Alyssa Collins.
