Christopher Newport’s Dozier, Hanes Named C2C Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2025 women's volleyball season. Christopher Newport's Alyssa Dozier earned C2C Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Captains Maddie Hanes captured C2C Defensive Player of the Week acclaim.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alyssa Dozier, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport senior Alyssa Dozier led the Captains with 33 kills (4.71 per set) and just four errors on 64 attempts for a .453 attack percentage in a pair of tough matches this week. First, she recorded 19 kills on the road at Bridgewater, marking the second-highest single match total for the senior this season, and then, at home against #24 Washington and Lee, she added 14 more. During the week, she climbed to 7th all-time at CNU with 1,249 career kills and became just the eighth player in program history to eclipse 3,000 attack attempts. The CNU middle added five total blocks (1 solo, 4 assisted) and two digs during the week.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maddie Hanes, Christopher Newport

Christopher Newport junior Maddie Hanes was the defensive star on the back line with 20 digs in both matches (5.71 per set) in a pair of tough matches this week. First, CNU went on the road and defeated Bridgewater, 3-1, before returning home to topple 24th-ranked Washington and Lee, 3-0. Her back-to-back 20-dig efforts were the fourth and fifth 20-dig performances of the season for the Captains' DS and she eclipsed 300 digs on the season. She also finished the week with four service aces and one kill.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury's Julie Altieri dished out 67 assists (11.17 A/S) as part of the Sea Gulls' sweeps of Mary Washington and No. 25 Lynchburg on Saturday. She also contributed six kills over the tri-match. Altieri leads the C2C in both assists and assists per set and is fewer than 100 helpers away from a second consecutive 1,000-assist season… Regent's Rylee Stewart had 11 service aces and 41 assists in three straights sweeps this week helped the Royals win their program record 16th game. She averaged 4.56 assists/set with a hitting percentage of .500 in the three matches… UC Santa Cruz's Heidi Collins led the offense for UCSC in their Texas road trip as the senior recorded 28 kills across four matches with a 2.15 kills/set average. Collins turned in double digit kills against Austin College with 12 and against Centenary with 10. Collins' 10 kills against Centenary came off just 18 total attacks, ending the sweep with a .444 hitting percentage. In addition to her attacking, Collins ended the weekend with five service aces, four of which came in the 3-0 sweep over Centenary. She also chimed in defensively with 20 digs on the weekend… Salisbury's Gwen Eustace rose up for nine blocks (1.50 B/S) with two solo efforts to help the Sea Gulls sweep Mary Washington and No. 25 Lynchburg on Saturday. With her third stuff of the match against the Eagles, she became just the third player in SU history to reach 400 blocks for her career… UC Santa Cruz's Shiraz Benyoucef anchored the back line for UCSC, playing in every set of the weekend with 46 digs across four matches, good for a 3.07 digs/set average. Benyoucef had 90 serve receptions with just seven errors and was perfect against the No. 2 ETBU Tigers with a 1.00 RPT with 15 receptions to go along with 13 digs and a 4.33 digs/set average in the contest.
