Mary Washington's Sarah Dawes Gains All-Region Recognition In NCAA Regional Women's Cross Country Race
Mary Washington senior Sarah Dawes was the only CAC runner to earn All-Region recognition as the CAC teams competed in the NCAA regional cross country meets at Memphis, Tenn., and Slippery Rock, Pa.
Dawes placed 18th overall at 23:05 in the South/Southeast
Regional, leading the Eagles to 10th place out of 25 teams.
The UMW women saw Dawes take 18th at 23:05, followed by freshman
Elizabeth Green in 32nd place at 23:25,
Madelyn Crowell in 62nd place at
24:28, Dawn Rainbolt in 70th at 24:41,
and Kristy Witek in 75th at
24:43.
In the Mideast Regional, CAC champion Salisbury was the top team, placing 21st out of 45 squads. Following the Sea Gulls from the CAC were York (31st), St. Mary's (40th), Hood (41st), Stevenson (44th) and Frostburg State (incomplete).
The only CAC runner among the top 100 finishers was Frostburg State junior Liz Patron, who placed 67th overall in 24:18 on the 6K course.
