Christopher Newport and York Claim Eighth Place Finishes at Women's Cross Country Regionals

Mid-East Regional

York junior Jess Miller, the CAC runner-up, was the top CAC finisher at the Mid-East Regional hosted by Lehigh on Saturday. Miller turned in an 18th-place finish with a time of 22:01 to earn All-Region honors and help lead the Spartans to eighth place in the team standings.

York junior Caroline Delaney, who edged out her classmate Miller for the CAC individual crown, was the next CAC runner to finish, taking 57th in 23:01. Sophomore Jenna Roberts (83rd) and freshmen Alicia Dillman (90th) and Kathleen Cannon (96th) also registered top-100 placings for the Spartans. 

St. Mary's took 34th in the team standings, while Frostburg State, Penn State Harrisburg, Salisbury and Wesley also had individuals compete at the regional, but did not meet the required minimum of runners to qualify for a team score. 

South / Southeast Regional

Host Christopher Newport turned in a top-10 team finish, taking eighth with 254 points. Senior Jessica McClelland earned all-region accolades with an 18th-place finish. Freshman Emmie Schmitt took 40th, sophomore Alexa Tabackman claimed 49th, while freshman Logan Harrington placed 72nd and sophomore Lydia Cromwell turned in a 75th place mark. 

Mary Washington placed 12th with a team score of 344. Junior Tara Landy led the way for the Eagles, claiming a 38th-place finish. Freshman Victoria Parent put together a strong showing in 62nd, with Claudia Autore (77th), Liz Green (78th), and Beth Lindenblad (89th) also in the top-five for UMW.
