York's Jess Miller Qualifies For A Return Trip To The NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship Meet With UMW's Teagan Young, Lauren Braney And CNU Team

Jess Miller earned a second-straight bid on Sunday to compete at NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships after qualifying in the Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday.

The York senior will join Mary Washington's duo of Teagan Young and Lauren Braney and the Christopher Newport team in representing the CAC at the national championship chase.  Young, Braney and CNU qualified for nationals through the South/Southeast Regional championship meet.

Young captured the individual title at the South/Southeast Regional, defeating the next-closest finisher by nearly eight seconds. Braney claimed seventh place, helping the Eagles to a fifth-place team finish.

Miller, the first female cross country runner in school history to qualify for the National Championships last year, was the CAC's first woman to qualify for the national championships since 2008 when she placed 140th out of 280 (22:51.5) in the 2013 NCAA Championship meet.

At the Mideast Regionals, Miller finished 14th out of 370 racers with a time of 22:28.1 and led York to an 11th place finish out of 52 teams.

Miller has produced a stellar season thus far, earning First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors following a second place finish at the CAC Championships with a time of 21:45.5.

The senior also captured CAC Runner of the Week honors twice this year after first place finishes at the Rich Achtzehn Classic with a time of 24:39.30 and at the CNU Invitational with a time of 22:55.2.

Christopher Newport narrowly edged Centre for second place in the team standings at the South/Southeast Regional. The Captains are making history with their NCAA team bid, becoming the first CAC program and first CNU program to reach the National Championships.

The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be held on November 22 at the Golf Center at King's Island in Mason Ohio. More information about the race and the field of runners can be found here.
