Miller, York Women's Cross Country Team Capture CNU Invitational Titles; Frostburg State Wins Hood Invitational

York senior Jess Miller led a contingent of top-three Spartan finishers as York secured the team title at the CNU Invitational on Saturday, while Frostburg State also nabbed a team crown at the Hood Invitational. 

This weekend's meets served as a final tune-up for the squads prior to the CAC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 1. 

York used a one-two-three finish to win the CNU Invitational, outdistancing second place Christopher Newport by 22 points. Miller earned the first place finish as she cruised to a time of 22:55.2. Miller's time would have placed her fourth in the Division I finishers, less than 26 seconds away from being the overall top finisher among all participants regardless of division.

Jenna Roberts came in second, just over 23 seconds back of Miller, while senior Caroline DeLany was just under three seconds back of Roberts as she placed third with a time of 23:21.8.

For Christopher Newport, Logan Harrington finished fourth among Division III competitors and 10th overall. 

Southern Virginia took sixth at CNU, paced by sophomore Rebecca Lords with a time of 28:11.1. 

Frostburg State posted its second-straight victory after winning the Hood College Open Invitational, Saturday. The Bobcats, who won the Aaron Slafka Memorial Cross Country Invitational two weeks ago, had five runners finish inside the top-20. Junior Gabbi Maher paced the team's efforts with a ninth-place finish in 25:28.8, narrowly edging freshman Alexis DeVault, who earned 10th in 25:29.1.

Also at Hood, St. Mary's placed fifth, paced by Michelle DiMenna in 10th place 25:30.4. 

Mary Washington finished eighth among 19 schools at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Teagan Young finished third overall with a time of 22:07. 

Salisbury and Penn State Harrisburg competed at the Gettysburg Invitational. Salisbury garnered 567 points to claim 21st place, led by senior Olivia Cloud's 81st-place finish in 25:19.9. For PSH, Rachel Sechrist led the Lions in 239th of the 394 runners. 

On Friday, Wesley placed fifth at the Delaware State Invitational. Sophomore Dieunise Desir led the way in 22nd with a time of 21:08.1.
