Christopher Newport Women's Cross Country Takes Third at NCAA South/Southeast Regional; York Ninth at Mideast Regional

Christopher Newport placed third and had four runners receive All-Region honors at the NCAA South/Southeast Women's Cross Country Regional championship on Saturday, leading CAC performances at the regional meets.
CNU and Marymount represented the CAC at the South/Southeast Regional in Mount Berry, Ga., while York, Salisbury, St. Mary's and Frostburg State all competed at the Mideast Regional in Center Valley, Pa.

CNU took third in the team standings with 117 points, trailing only Emory (68 points) and Rhodes (103 points). Freshman Jessica Lee was the top finisher in 12th at 23:08.0, while Logan Harrington (20th; 23:25.4), Briana Stewart (21st; 23:30.0), and Emmie Schmitt (26th; 23:36.8) also captured All-Region honors.
Marymount placed 18th out of the 27 competing teams, led by Denise Gallant in 78th at 24:59.9.
Mideast Regional | Center Valley, Pa.
York was the top CAC team in the standings, finishing ninth in the 51-team field with 284 points. Kathleen Cannon paced the Spartans in 33rd place at 22:49.8, earning All-Region accolades.
Salisbury finished 17th with 484 points, while Frostburg State took 37th and St. Mary's finished 42nd.
