CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT WOMEN'S GOLF

The inaugural season of Christopher Newport women's golf has been impressive from the start, when the Captains won the very first tournament they ever played at the Bay Creek Invitational in the fall. With an entire roster filled with freshmen and sophomores, the Captains have been led by rookie Erica Whitehouse with a team-best 78.7 stroke average. She won the Max & Susan Stith Invitational and currently ranks 28th nationally among players with at least 14 rounds played. Freshmen Katie Thome and Cameron Cook have played as many rounds as Whitehouse and rank second and third, respectively, on the team. Thome led the way for CNU in their last outing with a top-20 effort at the Sewanee Spring Invitational.

CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT MEN'S GOLF

Christopher Newport has won all four conference championships since joining the Capital Athletic Conference and hopes to extend that streak to five this spring. The Captains feature the 2017 CAC Player of the Year in junior David Rabil, who enters the conference championship with a stroke average of 74.7 to lead the squad. In last year's CAC Championship, Davis Topping competed for the Captains and captured an 8th place effort and second team All-Conference honors in his first career appearance. The team also features veteran Kurt Funkhouser, who boasts a career-best 76.1 stroke average this season.
