YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State junior Matt Jeffery and Marymount sophomore Conner Hall earned CAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for Feb. 20, 2017.  

Player of the Week

Frostburg State junior Matt Jeffery was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after batting .615 (8-for-13) with three RBIs, two doubles, three runs scored and a walk in a 3-0 week for the Bobcats. Jeffery registered at least two hits in each contest, and posted a .688 on-base percentage and .769 slugging percentage. The Bobcats defeated Penn State Abington, Rutgers-Newark, and Stevenson. 

 

Pitcher of the Week

Marymount sophomore Conner Hall earned CAC Pitcher of the Week honors after recording a save and a win and throwing 3.0 shutout relief innings in the Saints' doubleheader sweep over Averett on Saturday. In game one, Hall entered the game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and runners on first and second. He forced a flyout to centerfield to earn the save in a 3-1 Marymount victory. In game two, he pitched 2.2 innings of relief, giving up just one hit to secure the win. Throughout the twinbill, he three 3.0 shutout innings and allowed just one hit and no runs, holding Averett batters to a .111 batting average.

Eight CAC squads have opened up their 2017 campaigns, with Wesley and York set to begin competition within the next week ... Salisbury is ranked No. 24 in the D3baseball.com National Poll, while Frostburg State and Christopher Newport are receiving votes ... In the Collegiate Baseball Division III Preseason Poll, Salisbury is ranked No. 30 while Frostburg State and Mary Washington are receiving votes ... CNU's Mike Thomas carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning while earning his first victory of the season during a 6-1 win over Ferrum on Friday ... Mary Washington freshman Christian Hague had an impressive start to his college career, batting .455 (5-of-11) with three doubles, a home run, four runs scored and five RBI as UMW visited Methodist to face DeSales, Methodist, and Bridgewater. The freshman had 11 total bases with four extra base hits among his five hits. He carries an on base percentage of .500 and slugging average of 1.000. Sophomore Cole Jarvis made his first appearance in two years for the Eagles at Methodist, and sparkled with seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings of relief, allowing three hits, no walks, and no runs scored ... Marymount's Brandon Savage had the hot bat for the weekend for the Saints, guiding them to a twin-bill sweep of seven-inning games at Averett. For the twinbill, he had three hits, two doubles, three RBIs, two runs, and two walks while honing a .500 batting average ... Penn State Harrisburg's Bret Williams went 6-for-13 (.462) at the plate with a home run, six RBIs, and two doubles in four games last week ... St. Mary's Lucas Kraft contributed two runs, four hits, and two doubles as the Seahawks swept past visiting Mount Saint Mary's in a three-game series this past weekend ... Salisbury's Jay Perry is now the Gulls' leader in RBIs after posting a monster game one against Cortland State, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Pete Grasso pitched four scoreless in game two vs. Cortland State, striking out six while allowing three hits ... Southern Virginia's Riley Daniels crushed two grand slams in win over Penn State Mont Alto, marking the first time a Division III player accomplished the feat since 2004 and the 12th time it has happened in DIII history, according to D3baseball.com .
