Salisbury Senior Wyatt Smith Earns Second CAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honor

YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury senior Wyatt Smith was named the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season on Dec. 19, 2016.

Salisbury senior Wyatt Smith was named the CAC Player of the Week after scoring a game-high 17 points, pulling down eight rebounds, and blocking a career-high five shots in the 10th-ranked Sea Gulls' dramatic 59-58 victory over fifth-ranked Christopher Newport on Saturday. Smith came on strongest in the second half, scoring 11, grabbing six boards, and blocking three shots, helping Salisbury to come back from a 10-point deficit. Smith's putback with just over four minutes remaining, which became a three-point play, gave Salisbury its first lead of the second half.

In the D3hoops.com week 3 rankings, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 5 and Salisbury is No. 10 ... Salisbury is the lone remaining unbeaten in the CAC at 8-0 overall and 4-0 in CAC play ... Six CAC teams were in action last week, with two CAC contests on the slate ... Marymount, Penn State Harrisburg, Wesley, and York will compete in non-conference action this week ... Frostburg State returns to action on Friday, Dec. 30 at the Roanoke College Tournament ... Salisbury junior Chad Barcikowski grabbed a defensive rebound off a missed free throw with 2.9 seconds left and hit a half-court buzzer beater to give Salisbury a one-point win against No. 5 CNU, 59-58 ... Southern Virginia's Michael Price led the Knights this week with 13 points and seven rebounds in a non-conference loss at Bridgewater (Va.) Price ranks third on the team with 8.6 points per game this season ...  Wesley's Brian Cameron was the Wolverines leading scorer last week, averaging 16.0 points per game for the Navy and White. The freshman netted 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds to go with a pair of steals to lead Wesley past York on Wednesday. Against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, Cameron followed up with 13 points and six boards, two assists and two steals. He shot 52.2% from the floor and 4-for-8 from beyond the arc as the Wolverines went 1-1 including 1-0 in conference play.
