YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport junior Grayson Reid and Mary Washington freshman David Danek CAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week accolades for April 18, 2017.

Christopher Newport junior Grayson Reid was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after breaking the school record in the 10,000 meters on Friday at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell. Reid registered a time of 30:18.97 in the event, shaving nearly 40 seconds off the previous school mark of 30:57.84. That clocking also moved him to eighth in the nation this year and first in the CAC by 39 seconds.

Mary Washington freshman David Danek was tabbed as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after posting the 10th-best mark in Division III in the high jump at the Johns Hopkins Invitational. Danek secured a mark of 2.03 meters to take first in the event.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
The CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place this Friday & Saturday at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. ... Frostburg State senior J.R. Lowery led the Bobcats' efforts at the Johns Hopkins Invitational, winning the shot put (16.64m) and capturing runner-up in the hammer thorw at 49.10m. The shot put win was his seventh this spring ... Mary Washington senior Chris Markham placed fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:11.48 at Johns Hopkins, while Jose Mundo placed fourth in the triple jump at 13.10 meters and Daniel Forjan placed second in the shot put at 15.40 meters ... Salisbury competed at the Captains Classic hosted by CNU. Zach Schmelz earned the first Salisbury victory of the meet in the 400-meter dash at 48.46, and also helped the 4x400-meter relay capture a second-place finish at 3:20.99. Andrew Volz finished third in the hammer throw, fifth in the shot put, and sixth in the discuss for the Sea Gulls ... Wesley competed at the Johns Hopkins Invitational. Johnny Crenshaw was part of the first-place 4x100-meter relay his brother Joseph Crenshaw, DaJahn Lowery and Greg Taylor. The team finished the relay in 42.02 seconds. Individually, Crenshaw recorded a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.91) and a fourth-place time in the 200-meter dash (22.42). Rayshawn McRae recorded a winning mark of 1.80 meters (5-10.75) in the triple jump for the Wolverines ... York hosted its annual Spartan Twilight Meet last Wednesday. Junior Grant Dell won the 5,000 meters and senior Darien Gray won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump to lead the Spartans.
