Marymount Sophomore Tyffani McQueen Honored as CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Marymount sophomore Tyffani McQueen was honored as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 13, 2017.

Marymount sophomore Tyffani McQueen was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after leading the Saints to crucial CAC victories over No. 8 Christopher Newport and York last week. McQueen was all over the stat sheet, averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 steals, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 50% from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. With the pair of wins, the Saints are now just one game back of first place in the CAC standings.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington are ranked in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com national rankings. CNU is ranked No. 7 by both polls, while UMW is ranked No. 8 in both polls ... The six-team CAC playoff field is already set, with seedings to be determined based on this week's results ... UMW, CNU and Marymount will comprise the top three seeds, while York, Salisbury and Frostburg State will be seeds three through six, with exact seedings yet to be determined ... One week remains in the regular season. UMW (21-2, 14-2) and CNU (21-2, 14-2) sport identical records atop the standings, with Marymount (19-4, 13-3) one game back in third place. York (16-7, 10-6) is in fourth place, while Salisbury (13-10, 9-7) and Frostburg State (11-12, 9-7) are deadlocked for fifth ... Frostburg State junior Sharyce Warren totaled 32 points in two games last week for the Bobcats, including 17 points in a 80-58 win at St. Mary's ... Mary Washington sophomore McKenzie Jenkins averaged 14 PPG last week for the Eagles, tying a school record by making all five of her three point attempts in Wednesday's win over St. Mary's. In the game, she scored 17 points in 12 minutes. She added 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting on Saturday against Penn State Harrisburg ... Penn State Harrisburg upended Mary Washington 58-57 on the road on Saturday, claiming the biggest upset of the CAC regular season. Kaitlyn Carmo scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Shanique Mattis sunk a key last-second free throw for the Lions ... St. Mary's senior Nina Haller averaged a double-double with 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while also becoming the 10th Seahawk to join the 1,000 point club ... In a 2-0 week for Salisbury, Lauren Rothfeld went for 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while adding 13 steals. Against Penn State Harrisburg she posted a double-double with 18 and 13 to go along with five steals and three blocks. Against Southern Virginia, Rothfeld tallied 18 points, six rebounds, and a career-high eight steals. Rothfeld is the only player in the CAC in the top five for points (16.5, first), rebounds (8.1, fifth), and steals (3.9, first) per game ... Southern Virginia's Shelby Winsor scored a career-high 29 points against Frostburg State, and had her fourth and fifth 20-point games this week. Winsor leads the Knights in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg) this season ... Wesley senior Brionna Johnson notched her season-bests in the loss to York, tallying 22 points and 16 rebounds ... York's Sam Hruz recorded her fourth double-double of the year and the 16th of her career in the loss at Marymount.

Brionna Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in three games this week helping Wesley to a pair of victories. The senior forward netted 10 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.4 seconds remaining to give Wesley a two-point win over Widener University in the team's season opener.
