YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington senior Shelby Harris was honored as the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for Sept. 30, 2015.

Mary Washington senior Shelby Harris was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after advancing to the quarterfinals of the championship singles flight and teaming with Kait Brogan to make the finals of the doubles draw at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships. Harris and Brogan dropped just seven games in their four matches leading up to the championship before falling to a Carnegie Mellon tandem in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, to claim second place. The championship doubles appearance marked the first for a UMW duo since 2009. In singles, Harris defeated opponents from Washington College, Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon before falling to the eventual runner-up, Carnegie Mellon's Brooke Tsu, in the final eight.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Several CAC teams competed at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Mary Washington last weekend ... The Christopher Newport duo of Isabelle Wessel and Emily Morgan won the Blue 1 Flight Doubles title with a 4-0 record, including a 9-7 victory over Johns Hopkins in the title match ... Mary Washington's Caroline Mosberg and Sara Fioretti advanced to the semifinals of the ITA championship doubles bracket before falling to teammates Harris and Brogan, 8-3 ... UMW's Brogan and Salisbury's Natalie Savage won two singles matches each before bowing out in the round of 16 ... Penn State Harrisburg fell to Immaculata 7-2 last week, dropping the Lions to 1-1 on the year.
